whispering pages

Keep this in mind when playing this experience ... this is the first room they ever made specific for this location (under the new owners).

I'm just blown away.

On it's own, Whispering Pages is the definition of immersion but coupling that with the fact this is their first from-scratch build; I cannot wait to see what the encore is when they make a follow-up. 

 

Lets start with the fundamentals, the story and immersion. Both are top notch, the story is simple which is perfect. It does not need a lot to pull you in as the combination of the reason for being at the room and the immersion of it; the painting, the wall paper, the decor, the weathering, the atmosphere -- all are top tier.

They have some of the more unique puzzles and moments throughout the experience that I wish I could go into more details about but let's just say there is a perfect jump scare and they even gave us a video of the moment for posterity. Seriously this was one of the best "jump scare" moments I had in a room and they did it masterfully. I will not share it because the moment is too good not to experience live for yourself.

Thankfully the room is not too difficult and thankfully so as the heightened fear aspect really adds to the tension and your flight or fight will be kicking in throughout the session. Thankfully they artfully balance the interactions so the tension is really driving the scares.

I also need to point out, the team there can dial back some elements so they will craft it for your needs. 

​

We had a change to speak with both owners after the game and it was just wonderful to get a walk through post-game, hear about their design approach and the love and care they took with this experience. 

​

I cannot recommend this game highly enough. This is one of the few rooms I will play again and look forward to it.
