Review
This was a fun room. I love a good home-brew game that really shows the artistry of the owners and staff that demonstrates the love and care they have for their location and their room and Wizard’s Tower was no exception.
The immersion is really well done, it has a mix of technology, good audio and special fx and some tried and true locks/puzzle elements. All worked well and helped tell a cool narrative.
It also has a layer of story that connects to the location itself; I enjoyed that attention to detail.
The game play is a mix of linear and non-linear which presented some fun challenges tackling the room. Also it added a nice mix of story-driven elements which was a nice integration into the room.
If you read some Morty reviews prior to playing and are reading a handful about one puzzle in particular, let me shed some no spoiler info for you here. This puzzle includes a number of cards and a scroll. Our suggestion to avoid some frustration; just hint it. The
GM flagged after the game it doesn't work as intended and the flow would not work well without it in place. Avoid that bit to save some time and head scratching.
Despite that one puzzle, it's still a blast to play.
Knowing about this puzzle in advance; you should save some frustration and it did not hinder our enjoyment.
We finished as a couple with a few extra minutes added. This is easily a three or four person room. It’s a fun location and highly recommend this room (favorite rooms thus far were London and Secrets)
