REVIEW SUMMARY

Story

So let me get this straight, we get to time travel, head back to the past to the 1970s and find the first prototype robot from an agent of  Nemesis and prevent it from showing up in the future?

That is 100% accurate?

Do you think we will have time to by some stock in Apple or Amazon?

Not in the 1970s

Maybe we can invent Amazon while we are there?

Review

The purpose of Clueminati Tales is to try to connect players with a game that best scratches your itch.

While I will also give an honest review of a room, it just reflects my opinion and the relative preference I have for a room, a story, immersion and gameplay. What I'll try to do is also offer thoughts on who might like a room, even if I did not. If my score for a room dips below a 6 out of 10 (by our scale 6+ rooms are rooms we absolutely suggest playing and share on social media). This review will not be promoted as I do not want to deter anyone from playing a room. We just want to offer our thoughts on who might like a room.

With that out of the way, let's talk System Overload.

Off the bat, one of the absolutely coolest starts to a room and one of the most immersive/accurate first rooms I've played.

I'm a Gen X'er so the theme of the room, not a spoiler as the story tells you, you are traveling to the 1970s. I can objectively say, the first room brought back such nostalgia and the mapping and theme of the first room was brilliant.

For my tastes, the first room is the only one I really enjoyed playing but that is 100% because the puzzles that followed are puzzle types I do not typically like but you might like them. The perfect storm for me is the the rooms that followed the first were all the puzzle types I dislike.

There was nothing wrong with what followed, the theme, immersion and tech used was incredible; it just had almost exclusively elements that usually turn me off on a room.

They were 100% on theme for the room, they were well mapped, they made sense for the story.

For context without getting into spoilers, I am not a fan of puzzles that require multi-steps or feature repetition (do similar tasks multiple time with the same mechanic).

However, the puzzles for these elements were very innovative, well themed and were extremely immersive.

If that works for you, this might be a perfect room for you.

The folks at Keepers are amazing, immersive story tellers.

I will absolutely be back to tackle their upcoming horror-themed room and cannot wait to see what they do.

Also I cannot rave about the Temple of Light enough - amazing game (try that one first). While System Overlord was not my cup of tea, it might be perfect for you.
